Skrillex and Justin Bieber have come under serious heat legally for their collaborative hit “Sorry.”
According to TMZ, singer/songwriter Casey Dienel has filed a lawsuit against Bieber, Skrillex as a writer, and the other producers involved in the track for their identical use of the “unique characteristics of the female vocal riff” in her song “Ring The Bell” under the moniker White Hinterland.
She warned Bieber back in December after “Sorry” was released in October, but was summarily ignored.
Upon listening to the two tracks, the similarities are undeniable, and the popularity of “Ring The Bell” means that it certainly could’ve reached the ears of Bieber and/or Skrillex. Highly acclaimed by Rolling Stone, the song has been streamed over 800,000 times.
In her lawsuit, Dienel is asking for a cease and desist as well as compensation for use of the track.
